  24. Unfortunately all of the Kermit servers are no longer maintained by the
  25. Kermit Project.  Instead they are now maintained by the Columbia 
  26. University AcIS Unix Systems Group.  This means that no special daemons 
  27. are installed on the machines.  This is one of the prices that had to be
  28. paid by the community when the Kermit Project was forced to lay off 
  29. myself and Max Evarts due to ever decreasing sales of new Kermit 95 
  30. licenses.

  32. No longer does Columbia University host an Internet Kermit Service 
  33. daemon supporting all of the security protocols implemented within 
  34. C-Kermit.

  36. No longer does Columbia University host an FTP Service which provides 
  37. for private anonymous connections via the use of AUTH TLS protocol.

  39. Why are sales of Kermit 95 descreasing to unheard of levels?  I hope it 
  40. is not the quality of the product.  :)

  46. Could it be the inability to find "Kermit 95" listed on Google when 
  47. searching for "terminal emulator", "file transfer", "telnet", "ssh",
  48. "vt320", "ftp", and any of the other thousand terms which are included
  49. in the web pages for Kermit 95 and C-Kermit?  (Of course, if you add
  50. "kermit" to the search you will find us.)

  52. I don't know.  But boy could I use a shot of tequila right about now.

  54. I have been told that if every Kermit 95 user was to link to the Kermit 
  55. 95 page from their web page that Google would list us.

  57. Back to the question at hand.  You need a public server that supports
  58. FTP AUTH TLS that works.  Try Peter Runestig's public ftp server at

  62. on it you can find the source code to patched versions of popular FTP
  63. servers to add support for AUTH TLS.
